Day 1
Gorontalo
Welcome to Gorontalo! Members of the crew will meet at the airport or hotel and transfer you to the harbor to embark on your journey. You’ll be greeted with a welcome beverage and have time to settle in before we head out for an afternoon snorkel around Gorontalo, time permitting.
Day 2
Gorontalo
This morning you’ll wake up to a beautiful sunrise of your first full day in Suluwesi. Afterward, we’ll have additional time to explore one of the fantastic colorful reefs and secluded beaches in the area. This morning the crew will contact the Whale Shark Center for confirmation the gentle giants have been spotted in the area. If luck is on our side, we’ll have a chance to swim alongside Whale Sharks as they glide through the waters in search plankton, small fish, and shrimp. Their gentle movements make this an enjoyable experience for all ages. Later tonight, we’ll head to the top deck to enjoy dinner under the stars as we sail for the Togeans Islands.
Day 3
Una Una
This morning, you’ll enjoy breakfast on the deck as we near Mount Una Una for a day of adventure both above water and below. Upon arrival, the ship will moor at a local village where you will have a chance to meet the local villagers and have a glimpse at island life. For those intrepid travelers, you can spend the day trekking to the top of Mount Una Una. The adventure starts off on a motorbike, before passing through dry river beds and thick jungle before the final push to the crater lake where you’ll enjoy the well earned panoramic view of the surrounding islands. If you prefer a more relaxing day, we can jump in the water to snorkel or dive the bountiful reefs are surrounding the island.
Day 4 & 5
Palua Togean
Today we’ll set out early to Togean Island, where we will spend the next two days exploring the culture and natural beauty of the island.
We’ll head out to Mariona Lake for a once in a lifetime experience of snorkeling amongst thousands of stingless jellyfish. Sheltered and protected in this remote part of the world and with no direct preditors, the jellyfish have adapted to their environment shedding their protection, their sting. Afterward, we’ll sail to a nearby beach to enjoy a delicious picnic lunch prepared by the crew. The remaining day is yours to relax as you please, kick back on the beach, or snorkel over a pristine reef located off the shore.
We’ll meet the Bajau people, a nomadic people who rely on the vast water for sustenance. Due to harsh conditions at sea, some Bajua have adapted to the land and now live in coastal villages in homes built on stilts. Keeping to their traditions passed down through generations, the Bajau are excellent free divers and spear-fishermen who can hold their breath underwater for up to 10 minutes. You’ll have a chance to explore their culture to gain insight into their daily lives.
Day 6
Pulau Talatakoh
The ship will depart early in the morning for a magnificent sail to Pulau Talatakoh as we make our way through the channel located between Pulau Batudaka and Pulau Togean. Sit back and relax as we pass beautiful lush jungle while keeping an eye out for wildlife and birds. This afternoon, the boat will anchor, and we will snorkel or dive a WWII B24 bomber. Now encrusted in sponges and coral, the wreck is home to various marine life, including two resident nurse sharks. Afterward, sit back and relax as we sail to Pulau Puah.
Day 7
Pulau Seribu
This morning we will depart for the remote islands of Pulau Seribu.
Surrounded by pristine beaches fringed with palm trees, the islands are mostly uninhabited, and you’ll have the entire island to explore. Snorkel over vibrant beaches teeming with life, kayak around the islands, or simply relax enjoying the moment. Later tonight, we’ll set sail to the Banggai Islands.
Day 8 & 9
Banggai Islands
Over the next two days, we’ll explore the pristine natural beauty of the Banggai Islands. We will sail to sheltered remote reefs where you’ll have a chance to view the diverse underwater landscape and hopefully see the Banggai Cardinalfish. Endemic to the waters of Banggai, this small black and white marine fish numbers have dwindled due to ornamental reef trade, the Cardinalfish is now listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. Divers will enjoy the many vibrant coral covered walls and gardens located throughout the area.
We’ll trek inland to explore one of the waterfalls to have a cooling dip from the mid-day sun. Flowing freely into surrounding lagoons of crystal clear blue water, we will spend time exploring this area before heading back to the ship.
You’ll have another opportunity to visit the nomadic Bajau to gain a deeper understanding of their life and how it is affected by the changes in the ocean.
Day 10
