Komodo National Park

The Komodo National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site consists of 3 larger islands Komodo, Rinca, and Padar and over 20 smaller ones, many of which are uninhabited. Komodo and Rinca are home to the legendary Komodo dragons, respected by locals who believe they descend from one born to a dragon princess centuries ago. The mystical hidden paradise of Komodo National Park and surrounding islands will enthrall travelers with its wild adventure. A remote land ruled by dragons where active volcanos rise from the ocean gives way to its unique treasures.

Initially founded in 1980 to protect its remarkable inhabitant, the Komodo dragon, the National Park has since been extended the protection to include additional terrestrial inhabits on the islands and the biodiverse marine life.

Daily Activities

Day 1

Labuan Bajo – Sebayur Besar

The crew will pick you up at the airport or your hotel and transfer you directly to the boat. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by the professional staff with the welcome drink.

Then the boat will head to Sebayur Besar island, approximately a 2-hour sail. Once arrival, you will have the possibility to enjoy your first snorkeling experience on the beautiful reef of Sebayur Besar in front of the Komodo Resort. An easy snorkel on a reef full of life – ideal way to make everyone feel comfortable in the water.

Sebayur Besar is known to have the best sunset panorama view within the Komodo National Park. We highly recommend the 45 min trek to the top of the island. From the peak, you’ll get a better idea of your surroundings. The cruise director will be able to show you the following destinations of the trip right from that viewpoint. On your way down, you will admire the sky changing its colors, turning to a very pale orange / red and pink shades. During the trek, your crew will prepare aperitif on the beach facing that fantastic sunset. It is the best way to end the first day in this truly magical place.

Day 2

Sebayur Besar – Siaba Besar – Gili Lawa Darat

After a wonderful breakfast, the boat will sail to Siaba Besar, just an hour away. The dive spot in front of the island has a nickname “Turtle City”. This underwater hill is home to dozens of green turtles sitting on the coral garden. It’s an easy snorkel in shallow and pristine clear water. If you are lucky, you might meet a barracuda cruising around.

Once finished, go back to the boat and sail to the beautiful bay of Gili Lawa Darat next to Komodo island. Before the sunset, you will go for a short trek to reach the top of the hill, from which you’ll enjoy another panoramic view of the bay and the stunning landscapes surrounding you.

Day 3

Gili Lawa Darat- Makassar Reef – Padar

After a restful night, you will head to Makassar Reef, better known as Manta Point. Manta point will be your best chance to swim with the graceful Manta rays. It is a long shallow reef between the island of Komodo and Tatawa Besar. The current attracts Mantas, and it is possible to observe large groups swimming in a circle while being cleaned by small fishes.

Following this fantastic snorkeling, you will go to the grand island of Gili Makassar with its white sand beach, pristine, and shallow water. Truly the most beautiful island in the park!

In the afternoon, we will cruise to Padar Island, a wild island located between Rinca and Komodo. We like to call it Jurassic Park, and you will understand why once you’re there! We highly recommend doing the trek here as well. One more panoramic view of the most breathtaking landscape you will have ever seen! Enjoy the sunset from the top and then go back to the boat for a well-deserved dinner served by our fantastic chef.

Day 4

Padar – Rinca – Labuan Bajo

Early morning we will head to Rinca’s rangers station. Once arrived, everyone will go off the boat and head to the ranger station to start the trek to see the komodo dragon. You may select your trek directly with the ranger. There are 3 trekking options: short (1h), medium (1,5h – 2h), and a long one (2,5h).

After the adventure, you will head to Labuan Bajo in plenty of time for your return flight to Bali.
